Events, Attractions, Arts & Culture

Acadiana is well known for its rich cultural heritage, festivals and family activities. Youngsville's location makes it easy to take advantage of opportunities such as the Children's Museum numerous theaters, and much, much more. CajunFun.com is a website sponsored by the Acadiana Educational Endowment and offers a one-stop site for activities, including the performing arts, in and around Acadiana. It details events, exhibits and functions such as story times at Youngsville Libary and functions at Lafayette's Heymann Center. Be sure to check out their "Just For Kids" list of events. The Kart Ranch is located on Youngsville Highway and is a popular local family center as is the nearby Zoo of Acadiana.
The folk museum on 10 acres of gardens and woodlands offered at the Acadian Village is another area "must see." And, Vermilionville receives high marks for programs and events, including their popular boat tours. The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park is a function of the National Park Service with a location at the Acadian Cultural Center.
Activities at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette include touchable art for kids as well as events surrounding the permanent collection. Young artists will especially enjoy the children's activity area.
Our music is as good as the food! From the Acadiana Symphony to the Grant Street Dance Hall, The 7 can provide confident and experienced assurance that this area lacks nothing in regard to music or cuisine!
Be sure to look for THE 7 at Lafayette's Downtown Live. You'll also find us at the Festival International de Louisiane which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006. THE 7 suggest this popular event be placed on your "must do" list of April activities. In addition to the musical pererformances at the Festival International, Louisiana Crossroads offers a significant concert series across the state.
Youngsville residents relish catching beads at the annual Mardi Gras parade. SWMardiGras.com describes the annual Cajun Field activities in Lafayette that include a carnival, live music, and other events that contribute to the success of Acadiana's family oriented Mardi Gras.
The Cajun Dome hosts a variety of events such as the Ragin Cajun Basketball games, the Cajun Heartland State Fair,and big name entertainment.
Youngsville is very much a part of the broader region, including support for the University of Lafayette's (UL) Ragin Cajuns! This includes tailgating at a UL football game or taking in the other college level sports offered by the Ragin Cajuns.

Parks and Recreation

The Broussard-Youngsville Youth Association (BYAA) does a tremendous job of delivering activities to youth ages 4-17. BYYA activities include baseball, fast and slow pitch softball, tee-ball, flag and tackle football, basketball and volleyball. Registration, photos and additional information is available on the BYYA website.
Soccer is supported by the Lafayette Soccer Association.
A list complete with locations of the numerous parks and recreation centers throughout the parish is provided on Lafayette's consolidated government website. The same site also provides a detailed list of the neighborhood youth associations complete with contact names.
The Lafayette Convention and Visitor's Bureau (LCVB) website provides a list of public and private golf courses. Public Golf courses in Lafayette include Golfhaven, Gold D'Allie At the Farm, City Park Golf Course, and the North University Golf Center. Sites with their own websites include Acadian Hills and Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club in Broussard. The Lafayette Golf Academy and Golf Tee Driving Range are two of several Driving Ranges.

Dining

Like all of Acadiana, the food alone is a justification to move to Youngsville! Morvant's Bar and Grill offers a great example and is a Youngsville institution! Besides the world famous hamburgers, Morvant's offers one of the finest shrimp or oyster po-boys around. They are also well known for their Saturday dances. Morvant's success had caused them to expand with locations in New Iberia and Broussard.
We will constantly add to our list of the restaurants throughout Acadiana. Many do not have websites, but don't let that keep you from experiencing some of the best food in the country. Through commentary and video, the Lafayette Convention and Tourist Bureau captures the flavor and variety of restaurants in nearby Lafayette!

You can find what you are looking for in Youngsville and throughout Lafayette Parish! From the regionally popular Mall of Acadiana to dozens of strip malls, boutique and antique shops, shoppers come from all over to take advantage of the retail opportunities provided by local shop owners and national chains. Nearby Lafayette offers the Reflections of Olde Antique Mall, Odell Pottery, Wortman Pottery, the shops in the Oil Center, and Lafayette Shooters and Wildnerness.
Outfitting your new Acadiana home will be fun and easy! National chains such as Home Depot and Lowe's thrive as well as long time local lumber yards like Doug Ashy. These are just a few of the stores providing home improvement.
