If your camera only takes JPEG’s, the largest possible file size is preferred. While 4 megapixels work best on the visual tours, we will accept 3 megs.

Exposure:
The best pictures depend on even lighting that is available on cloudy days, or early and late. Strong sidelight during the early morning and late evening hours can provide superior definition. Sunny conditions generally make photographs too contrasty and render light objects on dark backgrounds difficult to photograph. You can reduce contrast with a neutral density filter under these conditions.

Suggested images:
We are looking for images that present a pictorial representation of Acadiana, including subdivisions and neighborhoods. For example:
-Subdivision sign(s)
-If appropriate, street signs
-Nearby shopping, schools, specialty shops, or local landmarks
-Housing styles
-Landscapes
-Architectural accents such as columns, front doors, interesting windows, shuttered windows, etc
-Playgrounds
-Neighborhood activity! Families at play, neighbors talking at mailbox, welcoming visitors on front porch or opening door, talking at mailbox, walking, waving, backyard get-togethers, association meetings, working in yard

Avoid distracting backgrounds and "visual clutter" such as trash cans and powerlines. To the extent possible, minimize streets and driveways. Photos of homes are generally better with window treatments open.

Submission procedure

1. Your name
2. Photo title and location (cityname/subdivision) in subject line
3. Photo descripton/commentary or testimonial
4. Your contact information
5. If applicable, indicate the proper attribution for the photo credit.

By submitting photos of homes, it is understood that you have asertained permission of the owner. Obviously, AcadianaNeighborhoods.com is dependent on those submitting photos to be responsible in this regard. When submitting photos of people, please have a permission form signed. If the photo is of a minor, a parental release is required.

Ideally, rename the photos before sending. At a minimum, identify them within your e-mail. Selection and use of photos: Photos will be selected on the basis of creativity, quality, and effectiveness in presenting the neighorhood or community.AcadianaNeighborhood.com will review all submitted photos to determine those appropriate to post on the site.

Legal Stuff
Because this is a complimentary service provided by AcadianaNeighborhoods to market the area, no financial compensation is made to neighborhood photographers. Photos may be cropped and/or resized in order to work within the various pages and for faster loading on the site. While photos will most likely appear on the specific subdivision/neighborhood page, they may also be used in visual tours (that's why we need the larger size!) or photo galleries relative to the nearby city/community or elsewhere on the site.

AcadianaNeighborhoods.com will not re-market photographs without permission of the photographer.

By submitting photograph(s), you agree to release and hold harmless AcadianaNeighborhoods and its employees, affiliates, agents, and webmaster from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your submission, including infringement of intellectual property rights.

Photos containing people must be accompanied by a signed release form. Photos must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By submitting your photo, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on AcadianaNeighborhoods without any fee or other form of compensation. AcadianaNeighborhoods.com may make and retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes.

Posted photos will be subject to the AcadianaNeighborhoods policy. Photos may be selected for display or use on websites controlled by THE 7 with permission from the photographer. Photographers agree that AcadianaNeighborhoods may contact them to obtain permission for use of photos in this way. Photos will never be used by AcadianaNeighborhoods in any manner for sale. Contact information will not be released to 3rd parties.
