CITY, PARISH, AND SUBDIVISION INFORMATION
Jeanerette is just south of Lafayette Parish and join neighboring parishes as part of the Cajun Heartland, the core of Acadiana is well known for its rich cultural heritage, festivals and family activities. Opportunities such as the Children's Museum, numerous theaters, and much, much more are highlighted and organized beautifully at CajunFun.com. The CajunFun site, sponsored by the Acadiana Educational Endowment offers a one-stop site for activities, including the performing arts, in and around Acadiana.
The Festival International de Louisiane celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006. THE SEVEN suggest this popular event be placed on your "must do" list of April activities. In addition to the musical performances at the Festival International, Louisiana Crossroads offers a significant concert series across the state.
Like all of Acadiana, Jeanerette takes pride in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Ragin Cajuns.

The Iberia Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau does an impressive job of outlining the many attractions in Iberia Parish. The Teche Area Farmer's Market makes for convenient farm fresh produce, especially for those who live in the renovated downtown properties.
The Conrad Rice Mill is the oldest working rice mill in the United States and has been placed on the National Historic Registry. The website features an on-line store selling rice, spices and a gourmet variety of both and recipes.
Shadows on the Teche is designated as a National Historic Trust property. This antebellum home located on Bayou Teche is visited by over 25,000 annually and should be placed on your "must see" list when visiting Acadiana. The website provides hours of operation as well as a wonderful chronological history. Events are also detailed.
The Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival is held annually in September in New Iberia.
Each Labor Day, the Labor Day Classic is held at the SugArena on the Acadiana Fairgrounds in New Iberia. The 100,000 square foot SugArena also hosts events like the Sugasheaux.
Not far from New Iberia, visitors and residents can find a pleasant outing at the Rip Van Winkle Gardens on Jefferson Island, home of the Joseph Jefferson Mansion, also listed on the National Historic Registry.
