Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society
Central Acadiana Gateway is an excellent site that beautifully organizes, describes, and provides photos of rural Mardi Gras. Kudos from THE 7 to the Louisiana State Univeristy of Eunice Office of Public Affairs.
Mardi Gras in Central Acadiana is a major event and Eunice celebrates the festival in style.
The Eunice Depot Museum, which is full of Cajun Culture, is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:00am to 12:00noon and 1:00pm-5:00pm and admission is free.
Be sure to visit the world famous Liberty Theater in Eunice, this theater is open weekly every Saturday at  6:00pm to 7:30pm during a live radio program featuring Cajun and Zydeco music, local recipes, and Cajun Humor.
Cajun Music Hall of Fame was established to honor those musicians that have contributed to our cultural music. 
Eunice is home to the Acadiana Culture Center.
Nearby Opelousas offers two major festivals held annually. The Opelousas Spice and Music Festival is held the first weekend each June with Zydeco representing just one musical element! It is a family festival offering a variety of music while promoting the area's prominent spice industry. Pepper eating contests, food booths, a jazz brunch, and a cook-off, are just a few of the events! In October, the Yambilee festival supports the Yam industry.
