The unincorporated community of Cecilia was originally known by the Spanish as La Punta, describing a deep bend in Bayou Teche.
The French translated "La Punta" into into La Grande Pointe, a name that was used by many until the name was changed to Cecilia.

5 miles off I-10 near Breaux Bridge. Take exit 109 off I-10. Head
northeast on La Hwy 328 approx 1.5 miles. Turn left on Poche's Bridge Rd to
Hwy 31. Turn right on Hwy 31 and head East 3.7 miles to Hwy
355. Keep right on 355 to Hwy 347. Turn right on Hwy 347. Carolyn's Cafe will be to your right at the intersection of Hwy 347
and Judge Dupre Rd.
