The Acadiana Medieval Faire is a wonderful, family oriented festival held between Arnaudville and Grand Coteau in Prairie Basse. Through living history and interactive theatre, the mission of this non-profit organization is to educate on the arts, culture and history of the medieval period.

Nearby Opelousas offers two major festivals held annually. The Opelousas Spice and Music Festival is held the first weekend each June with Zydeco representing just one musical element! It is a family festival offering a variety of music while promoting the area's prominent spice industry. Pepper eating contests, food booths, a jazz brunch, and a cook-off, are just a few of the events! In October, the Yambilee festival supports the Yam industry.
